Many potential clients have questions on what is a domain name, as they need to select one for their business or organization. Usually finding a name is not a problem, the question always arises about the extension after the . (dot). Most are familiar with .com, but are unfamiliar with the other Top Level Domains.

I got tired of explaining that there are other TLDs besides .com that they could also consider. So I just have them look at this infographic, which is a short list of some of the popular TLDs. It helps clarify what these other extension’s mean.

In my experience, they still end up selecting .com.

For those who want to view the current list of Top Level Domains, you can check out the ICANN website.
